Rainy Days

    Everyone was in school today. You could see them all cramming in the halls, some pushed up against walls... It was raining so many weren’t going outside but instead pushing up to squeeze in. You didn’t like the idea of being so close to one another, so you walked out into the pouring rain. You enjoyed getting all wet and so you skipped through it, whilst others inside looked at you like you were insane. You span around puddles, twirled against railings before noticing someone sitting alone at one of the picnic benches. You walked closer, realising it was your friend and crush Arthur. You felt the blood rushing to your face as you walked closer.

    “Hey there, didn’t expect to see you out here Arthur.” You smiled. He turned to you, burning a faint pink before looking back to the floor.

    “Neither did I, (f/n).” He replied, sending a smile to your face. He was such a gentleman to you and always used fancy words to impress many. You pushed your hand out, smiling invitingly, watching as Arthur took your hand. You soon found yourself waltzing beside your youthful friend and crush, a smile on your lips, a giggle escaping. He smiled warmly, spinning you now and again. He was a very good dancer, especially in wet clothing that dragged with every step. He even dropped you back a few times, your faces close to one another’s, a blush on your cheeks. Eventually, you finished, a smile on both of your faces. However, soon after, Arthur let you go, his scowl soon returning. You walked to him asking what the matter was. He simply sighed and looked to you.

    “I’m having girl problems...” He admitted. You burnt a little, but sat beside him as the rain fell heavier. He sighed before continuing. “...It’s just that my crush won’t notice me as a lover, just a best friend. It’s killing me every day and eventually...” He stopped, his hands forming fists. You shuffled closer to him, placing your hands on his, looking to him with warmth.

    “She’ll return your feelings Arthur. I don’t know anyone who would turn down a true gentleman like you.” You smiled, expecting him to return it, but once you noticed he didn’t you grew curious.

    “Arthur what’s...?” You continued, being cut off by the Englishman himself.

    “I love you.” His words sank into your head after 10 minutes of swirling around you. Your cheeks heated, your heart thumped and your eyes blinked back to reality. You then looked back to Arthur and his face imitating yours. You then smiled warmly, entwining your fingers with his own.

    “I love you too Arthur.” A smile then grew on the gentleman’s face as he pulled your hand up to his face and kissed it gently. You chuckled a little, kissing his cheek.

    “You missed.” He said teasingly, smiling more with each passing moment. It wasn’t long before you were both lip locked, sitting on the bench outside as the rain faded to sunshine and a burst of colors. Life wanted this to happen and you were glad it did.
