The next day Spock, with much encouragement from Jim, made the decision to ask you to lunch. He walked one-point-five times faster than his usual pace to arrive at Med Bay before you’d leave.
Dr. McCoy was leaving for his lunch when Spock reached Med Bay. Spock had no reason to speak to the doctor now, but it seemed the doctor was going to speak with him.
“What’re you doin’ here?” McCoy asked.
“I have come to ask Nurse (l/n) to accompany me to lunch.”
“Oh,” McCoy sounded, surprised, “well, good luck.”

"Captain, where is commander _____?" Spock asked as he exited the turbo lift, onto the bridge. You were not at your usual station, and he had not seen you yet today.
"Commander _____ has called out sick today, Spock."
"Sick? With what?"
"Umm, I think it was strep or something." Kirk said slightly distracted. Spock was silent for a moment, thinking of all the things he knew about the human illness. "Has Dr. McCoy seen to her yet?"
"Yes, McCoy has looked in on her. He has given her some antibiotics and said that now she just needs rest."
"So no one is there caring for her?"
"No, _____ said that 'She's a big girl, and that she can take care of

“…Well, anyway, I just wanted to tell you that I’ll be arriving soon. I promise I’ll send another message after I’ve settled in. I’ll see you in a year or so. I love you, goodbye.”
You looked around cautiously to see if any of your fellow passengers had overheard the message you’d just recorded and sent to your (insert parent[s]/guardian[s]/other family member). Judging by everyone’s expressions, it didn’t look like anyone had, but you couldn’t be sure.

'Bones' McCoy snorts. “What now? I'm a bit busy at the moment.”
“Well,” the captain drawls. “It seems Mr. Spock isn’t feeling to well, but insists he is fine.”
“Then he's fine Jim.
